Welcome to the project blog for Some Places Are Forever Afternoon (11 Places for Richard Hugo). This site will serve as a portal for all current information regarding the development of the project – a series of compositions by Wayne Horvitz inspired by the life and work of the late, great Richard Hugo.

UP NEXT: Stay tuned for photo updates from the road! This Friday we (Wayne and Nica) are headed East to Montana in a bulky Mazda. On our trip we hope to visit a few of the towns and sites that triggered Hugo’s writing, get lost along the way, and meet with some of the folks who remain close to Hugo and his work. Many thanks in advance to Frances McCue and her amazing book The Car That Brought You Here Still Runs (University of Washington Press, 2010) – a multi-layered road and reading map to a trip we only wish we had time to mimic in full.

– Nica
